Frisco ISD vs Prosper ISD 2026 — Which School District Is Best for Your Family?

Choosing the right school district is one of the biggest decisions families face when buying a home in North Dallas. Both Frisco ISD and Prosper ISD rank among the top school districts in Texas. However, they serve different communities and offer very different experiences.

Frisco ISD at a Glance

Frisco ISD serves over 66,000 students across dozens of campuses. Niche ranks the district #11 in Texas for 2026. In addition, the district boasts a 97% graduation rate, 77% reading proficiency, and 71% math proficiency. These numbers sit well above state averages.

Frisco ISD also offers magnet programs and extensive career and technical education pathways. As a result, students have access to state-of-the-art facilities and diverse learning opportunities. Multiple high schools rank in the top 100 in Texas, including Reedy, Liberty, and Independence.

Prosper ISD at a Glance

Prosper ISD has experienced explosive growth in recent years. The district now serves over 32,000 students in the 2025–26 school year. It operates four high schools and six middle schools. Furthermore, Prosper ISD recently won the H-E-B Excellence in Education Large School District Award.

New campuses continue to open across the district. For example, Richland High School and the upcoming Bridges Middle School reflect the rapid population growth in Prosper, Celina, and parts of northwest Frisco zoned to Prosper ISD.

How School Districts Affect Home Prices

Home prices differ between these two districts, even within the same city. A Frisco address zoned to Prosper ISD may carry a different tax rate than one zoned to Frisco ISD. As a result, the resale profile can vary significantly.

Understanding school district boundaries is critical when comparing homes. This applies to properties in Frisco, Prosper, Celina, and McKinney. On top of that, some Frisco neighborhoods fall within Lewisville ISD or Little Elm ISD. This adds further complexity to the buying process.

Before you make an offer, always verify the school district for the specific property. Do not rely on the city name in the listing alone. This single factor can affect your tax bill by hundreds of dollars per year. It can also influence your long-term resale value.
